PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

RACE WALKING
Although the Shamrock Run does not offer a race walking competitive division, race walkers are permitted in the 8k and 15k events so long as they can maintain an average per-mile pace of 12:30 or faster.

8k WAVE START
To create a smooth and safe start for everyone, the 8k field will be started in three separate groups (or “waves”) at 8-minute intervals. Each starting wave is determined by the runner’s estimated 8k finish time. Listed below are the corresponding times for each wave:

Wave 1 – Green bib numbers – 8:55 AM starting time
37:30 or faster finish time (7:30 per mile or faster)

Wave 2 – Orange bib numbers – 9:03 AM starting time
37:31 to 42:30 finish time (7:31 through 8:30 per mile)

Wave 3 – Gray bib numbers – 9:11 AM starting time
42:31 or longer finish time (8:31 per mile or longer)

15K TIME LIMIT
Any 15k participant who has not crossed Capitol Highway (4.5 miles into the route) within 75 minutes after the start of the race (a 14-minute per mile pace) will be directed left onto Capitol Highway to Barbur, which will shorten the distance of the route by approximately 2 miles.

BENEFICIARY
A portion of the net proceeds from the 2008 adidas Shamrock Run will benefit Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation.
