Timing and Awards
NEW CHIP-TIMING PROVIDER: THE END RESULT COMPANY
All three Shamrock races – the 5K, the 8K and the 15K – will be chip timed by The End Result Company. Your timing chip is to be affixed to your shoe lace or eyelet by a small zip tie that will be provided in your envelope with your bib number.
TIMING CHIP PICK-UP
Timing chips for non-team runners are to be picked up at the Shamrock Fitness Fair at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday, March 16 or Saturday, March 17, or on Shamrock Sunday at Will Call at Waterfront Park. Bib numbers and timing chips are not available at Fit Right NW.
Team members who are running in the 5K, 8K or 15K are to get their bib number and timing chip from their team captain after March 1.
RUN REALLY FAST AND WIN YOUR WEIGHT IN BEER
The men and women winners of the 5k, 8k and 15k races (including the wheelchair division) will receive Widmer Brothers gift certificates at the canopy near the Big Stage on Shamrock Sunday. Sorry, but because of time limitations there will not be a formal awards presentation, or the teeter-totter ceremony, on the Big Stage.
TOP FIVE FINISHER AWARDS – 5K, 8K AND 15K RACES
The first five overall men and women registered finishers in the 5K, 8K and 15K races will receive Stanford's gift cards in the following amounts:
1st PLACE: $125 Stanford's gift card
2nd PLACE: $100 Stanford's gift card
3rd PLACE: $75 Stanford's gift card
4th PLACE: $50 Stanford's gift card
5th PLACE: $25 Stanford's gift card
The top five finishers will receive their Stanford's gift cards at a canopy near the Big Stage on Shamrock Sunday. Sorry, but because of time limitations there will not be a formal awards presentation on the Big Stage.
The top five overall finishers will also receive adidas Shamrock Run back packs, but are not eligible for age group awards.
AGE GROUPS AND AWARDS
Age group competition will be held in the 5K, 8K and 15K races. The first three men and women finishers in each age group, and the winners in the overall wheelchair divisions, will receive a commemorative Shamrock Run back pack, compliments of adidas. Age groups start at 14 and under and continue in 5-year increments (15-19; 20-24 and so on) through age 80.
Age group awards will NOT be presented on race day. Instead, age group awards will be mailed during the week of April 9.
BOTTLE OPENER MEDALLIONS FOR ALL 15K FINISHERS
All registered finishers in the Shamrock 15K will receive a commemorative bottle opener medallion at the finish line. Sorry, but these awards are given only to 15K finishers. You must “go the distance” to receive a Shamrock medallion.

POSTING OF RACE RESULTS
Results will be posted on the event website – www.shamrockrunportland.com – by 9:00 PM on Shamrock Sunday. Results will be made official by March 31 and age group awards will be mailed during the week of April 2.
Sorry, results will not be posted at the event site at Waterfront Park.
“GUN TIME” AND “NET TIME”
As a USATF-sanctioned race, the Shamrock Run must follow USATF rules in determining the top 5 overall winners in the 5K, 8K, and 15K races. This means that, for those three categories only, a runner's official race time begins when the starting horn sounds. USATF recognizes "gun times" and not "chip times" when determining a runner's official finish time. Age group awards, however, will be determined by chip times.
TIMING CHIP RETURN
All timing chips worn at Shamrock must be returned at the event site. Runners who fail to return their timing chips will not have their results posted on the website and are also subject to a fee of $25, which is refundable when the timing chip is received by The End Result Company.
