The Shamrock 8K is the perfect distance for those that want a little more of a challenge than a 5K but don’t want to run that hill. This fast and flat course annually produces some incredible times

Event Information

PARKING

There are multiple parking areas in Downtown Portland within walking distance of the start and finish lines of the Shamrock Run Portland.  Review the Parking page of our website for updated information.

AID STATIONS

There are aid stations at miles 1.4 and 3.2.  The aid stations will provide water and an Gatorade Lemon Lime.

GEAR CHECK

Gear check will be located in a large tent in Waterfront Park near The Morrison Bridge — identified as “Gear Check”.  Participants can leave their warm-up clothing for safe-keeping during the event.

Gear Check will open to drop off bags at 7:00am and must be picked up no later than 12:30pm.  Please do not check backpacks, keys, wallets, purses or other valuables, however.  Gear is checked at your own risk.  The race is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged bags.

Clear, plastic, gear check bags will be available for pick-up at the Race Expo and on race morning at the Gear Check tent.

COURSE TIME LIMIT

The course time limit for the 8K is 1:10.  All participants must maintain a 15 minute/mile pace when competing in the 8K to ensure they finish within the time limit.

AWARDS

The top male and female finisher in each age group will receive a commemorative item.  The age groups can be found below:

14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

AGE MINIMUM

There is no age minimum to participate in the 8K, however, all participants must be runners or joggers.  Those that wish to walk should register for the Stride Walk event.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This out-and-back course is fast and flat. Starting at SW Pine and Naito, 8K runners will head north on Naito, passing the Burnside, Steel, Broadway, and Fremont Bridges as they transition onto NW Front Avenue. Participants continue along the Willamette River before reaching the turn around just south of NW 26th. The 8K finishes at SW Stark and Naito, just across from the Morrison Bridge and a few steps from the finish line festival.
