ABOUT DOERNBRECHER CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

OHSU Foundation ignites the power of philanthropy to advance OHSU’s missions and positively impact the health and well-being of patients and families. Facing any injury or medical condition can be a difficult journey for patients and their families — both physically and emotionally. Every day kids are beating the odds, but they don’t do it alone. They do it with the support of Doernbecher’s doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals — and with the support of donors like you.

Donor support is essential to Doernbecher. In this past year alone, philanthropy has made it possible for us to see more than 90,000 patients, research new ways to treat everything from respiratory viruses to rare disease and improve and expand our services outside of the Portland metro area. Patients and families locally and across the country turn to us for support in their most challenging moments. With your support, we will continue meeting the needs of every one of them.

THE HOSPITAL

OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital has been a leader in pediatric care for nearly 100 years. Doernbecher offers the widest range of health services to kids and families throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington, and it does so at a level of excellence that has marked us as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country.

Doernbecher is a resource for every child and family in need. Our mission is built on four pillars: clinical care that is second to none; research to treat or eliminate childhood disease; educating and training the next generation of pediatric health care providers; and advocacy to ensure that the needs of kids in our communities are met through effective systems, policies and resources that impact children’s health.

More than

has been fundraised for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital through this community event

Charitable giving and community partnerships have always been core to Shamrock Run; we are proud to have made charitable gifts totaling more than $1.3 million over the event’s history. The Foundation provides power, potential and promise for one of America’s leading pediatric health centers: Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland.

The Shamrock Run has also donated nearly $815,000 to various school athletic, performing arts and community service programs during the past two decades. Shamrock is privileged to have the help of more than 800 “volunteer” workers who serve as course marshals, staff water stations, issue bib numbers, work at gear check, help at the start and finish line, hand out T-shirts, assist at the Race Expo and other important Shamrock functions. Nearly all of these workers come from various high school groups such as the Aloha HS Key Club, Franklin HS track, Grant HS lacrosse, softball and track teams and the Royal Blues who perform at the start area, Highland Park Middle School Jazz Band, Rex Putnam HS football and baseball, Rex Putnam Baseball, and many more. In return for these outstanding and enthusiastic workers, the Shamrock Run makes a donation to their respective school program.
